Beautiful coast of Istria offers great opportunities for an excellent stay, and the south part of peninsula with Premantura village sure is one.

Istrian southernmost area includes some quiet villages that are great holiday destination and wonderful nature as well.

Istrian peninsula has a pointy ending in the south with cape Kamenjak and the southernmost village in Istria, Premantura, just 10 kilometers from Pula. Its history goes back to ancient Roman times when the place was called Runtianum. In the Middle Ages it was populated by families coming from Dalmatia, that sought refuge from Turkish invasion. Off the east coast there are a couple of islets that served as a pasture in the past where local farmers brought their cattle and even today a cow or two can sometimes be seen, so don't be surprised if you spot such a scene.

Today, Premantura is a picturesque village ideal for a peaceful and tranquil summer holiday, with excellent accommodation offer: old stone houses have been converted to apartments and villas, but modern homes with pool have been built as well and are available for rent. It is really easy to find the most comfortable place for holiday stay but be sure to do your booking in advance if you have fixed dates for your holiday so that cool beach villa or an apartment isn't booked by someone else.

Location of Premantura is excellent: it is close to Pula, the biggest town of Istria, where one can enjoy festivals, exhibitions, cultural heritage and many more so be sure to visit Arena, a well preserved Roman amphitheatre where numerous concerts and other events are held – maybe your favourite musician will perform there during your vacation so check the schedule prior to your arrival; yet it guarantees its guests peace and quiet, away from crowds of the big cities so it is great knowing that you can pop up to a festival, enjoy dancing under the stars and then retreat to your tranquil holiday home.

When it comes to nature, apart from being set in an idyllic landscape, Premantura also has one of the natural beauties of Istria in its neighbourhood - Cape Kamenjak is located right next to Premantura and it is a protected landscape with characteristic flora and fauna and it is the sunniest spot in Istria due to its microclimate. Its coast stretches for more than 30 kilometers and includes several secluded coves and small beaches where you can enjoy swimming in the sea and sunbathing undisturbed. But Kamenjak is not the only place where you will find a great beach – just head to the east and Medulin where there are great locations for sunbathing and swimming. There are sand and pebble beaches with restaurants, bars and sports facilities such as Bijeca, Belvedere and Alba Chiara. To get away from the crowds we recommend Škrape beach where locals usually go.

The vicinity of international Pula Airport is also a big plus. If you are coming to Istria by plane, you don't need to worry about a long drive to your final destination as Premantura is very much around the corner, just some 8 kilometers away. So with all the advantages that Premantura has to offer, we are sure that it could be your next holiday destination in Istria and Croatia.
