Zadar region has many beautiful beaches, and the part from Zaton to Nin is known for the sand ones.

When you go past Zadar and travel a bit to the north and west, to Zaton, Privlaka and Nin, you will find many sand beaches that are ideal for holiday with children and for those who enjoy sand entrance to the sea. This part of Zadar region has always been known for its sand shores and warm waters and it is no wonder that many people choose to spend their summer holiday in a villa in Zaton or an apartment in Nin, overlooking the beaches and the sea.

Among the small towns and villages that line after Zadar, Zaton is the most popular one with those tourists and local people that enjoy spending their summer time at a sand beach. A beach like that is ideal for sunbathing and it has an easy access to the sea. It is also great for children who can, apart from swimming, enjoy building castles and playing in the sand. Zaton is hence very popular tourist destination for families and there are plenty of apartments, houses and villas that can be booked for holiday. Since there are many newly built rental properties, it is easy to find those that are well equipped and have additional offer such as swimming pool or sauna.  As well as in nearby Kožino and Petrčane, there are beautiful modern villas in Zaton, followed by apartments and small hotels.

Sand beaches can also be found in Privlaka and Nin. Together with Zaton they are situated on a peninsula that faces islands of Pag and Vir (and the islands of Zadar archipelago on the west) as the final part of north Dalmatia. The peninsula shore, apart from the sand beaches and crystal-clear sea, is also known for its therapeutic mud that can be found there and that has been used till this day for over two millennia to help cure rheumatic and arthritic diseases.

Villages such as Zaton or Privlaka are great if you wish to be near a bigger town and still enjoy the peace and quiet of a small place. It takes just a 10 to 15 minutes to reach Zadar by car or a bus and enjoy the bustling city life and events of the north Dalmatian centre. Yet, when you are into something less hectic, you can just return to the relaxed atmosphere or quiet afternoon in your villa or an apartment and soak up the sun on beautiful sand beaches. Although small, these places also provide entertainment as there are many events held there during summer, from local feasts to concerts of popular Croatian musicians, so we are sure you will have good time even if you don’t go to Zadar. Remember, local feasts are especially good for enjoying delicious dishes as people from Zaton or Nin like to present their culinary tradition and offer local specialties (usually made from home grown food) at popular prices.

Therefore, if you like sand beaches, relaxed atmosphere and at the same time to be near a bigger town such as Zadar, do not hesitate to check the rental offer in its surrounding area and nearby coastal villages.
