The south part of Istria, with Medulin as its top tourist destination, has plenty to offer when it comes to holidays – beaches, food, villas and entertainment.

The southern part of Istria is an area where one can find everything needed for a perfect holiday. Although the entire Istria can boast with unspoilt nature, there is a special treat in its southern part. Cape Kamenjak, the southernmost point of Istria and just south of Medulin, has a coastline that is more than 30 kilometers long and the cape is a protected landscape with characteristic flora and fauna. More than 50 butterfly species live there, for instance. The area is the sunniest spot in Istria with very little rain and warm and dry summers, due to is microclimate. Best of all, it has several secluded coves and small beaches where one can find privacy and enjoy the sea and the sun. There are several small islands and islets scattered along the east and north parts of the coast.

Pula, the largest Istrian town, is less than 10 kilometers away from both Medulin and Kamenjak and it offers a great opportunity for sightseeing and entertainment. Pula, once an ancient Roman town, has numerous buildings and monuments from that period that are well worth the visit. Arena, a well preserved Roman amphitheatre is the most famous one, and it also serves as a concert and film festival venue. Check the events schedule prior to your arrival as there are lots of world famous musicians that preform there every summer, with Sting being the latest superstar to hold a concert in Arena, in 2017. Surely you wouldn't want to miss such spectacle.

And last but not the least, if you choose southern Istria for your holidays and want to have a tasty bite to eat, you will not be disappointed. There are many restaurants and taverns that both prepare delicious traditional Istrian dishes and follow modern culinary trends , as well, which is a guarantee that you will taste something extraordinary.
